Carry On Book

If you are a fan of Harry Potter than the ‘Carry On’ series is the one for you! ‘Carry On’ is a novel by Rainbow Rowell about Simon Snow , a wizard who is supposed to be the key to defeating the ‘Insidious Humdrum’ in the World of Mages. We follow Simon and his friends Lucy and Penelope at their magical school as they try to piece together who the Hundrum is. Simon is convinces it’s his missing vampire-wizard roomate Baz, but when Baz returns and begins to help, all those theories are starting to fall.
Overall, this novel was addicting to read! It has magic, vampires, dark creatures, LGBT representation, and a twist that shocked even me!
I love Baz’s attitude matches with Simon’s. They fight yet balance each other out in every scene. It’s captivating to read Rowell’s writing of the lead characters. What’s more so interesting is Rowell’s use of the world of Simon Snow. In her previous novel ‘Fangirl’ we find ourselves following Cath who writes and reads fan fiction pertaining to Simon Snow and his love for Baz Grimm-Pitch’s (while also Defeating evil). The novel follows Cath’s real life story while also let’s use see the fiction she’s writing about the characters, making you want to read more about this fantasy world Rowell created in her own novel. So fans were thrilled when ‘Carry On’ (and it’s sequel ‘Wayward Son’) followed the novel ‘Fangirl’. I’m looking forward to reading ‘Wayward Son’ to see the fantasy continue for our fave wizards. Plus Rainbow Rowell is writing the third instalment as we speak!
